FAQ

Questions we hear before the first call

If yours isn't here, ask us. There's no pressure in a conversation.

Why do your prices say "from"?

Because what we cost depends on what you have and how much support you want, the same way an accountant's fee does. A one-time cleanup for a small business is a very different job from looking after a growing company's technology every day. The starting price is what the smallest organized setup costs, and the evaluation tells us where yours lands.

What does a retainer actually get me?

Someone qualified to call when a question comes up, who already knows how your setup fits together. Before you sign up for a new tool, when a vendor says you need an upgrade, when a staff member asks if an email is real. It works the way a retainer with a lawyer does: your monthly fee builds a balance, and our time is billed against it at the rate for the kind of work. Help and questions are free.

Do you take over our accounts or logins?

No. Everything stays registered to your business, you pay your providers directly, and you keep every login. We work with our own access, which you can remove at any time. Our job is to advise, supervise and help, not to sit between you and your own technology.

What happens to balance I don't use?

It stays available for 12 months from the month you paid it, so there's never a year-end deadline to use it up. Unlike a lawyer's trust account, unused balance isn't refunded, so if you find you're not using it, move to a smaller plan or cancel. You can stop anytime.

Is my business too small for this?

No. A smaller business usually needs less of our time, which is exactly why our fee scales. Plenty of small businesses start with a one-time cleanup and only call us when something comes up.

Who owns my accounts and domain, me or you?

You do. Everything we set up or move is registered to your business, not to us. Part of a cleanup is usually moving accounts that were set up under someone else's name back into yours.

The person who built our website is gone. Can you help?

Almost always. We start with the domain, because whoever controls it controls your website and email. From there we work through each account and get it back into your name.

What happens if we stop working together?

You walk away with everything, and you don't need anything from us to do it. We set your accounts up in your name from day one and keep a documented list of what you have and where it lives, so leaving is as simple as handing that list to whoever looks after it next.

I already have a web designer or IT person. Do I still need you?

Maybe not. But a web designer looks after your website, and an IT person often looks after computers and the office network. We look after how all of it fits together, and we're happy to work alongside the people you already have.

Do I have to switch all my services over?

No. If what you have is working and fairly priced, we leave it alone. We only recommend a change when there's a clear reason: it's costing you too much, it's unreliable, or it's holding you back.

Customers say our emails go to spam. Is that something you fix?

Yes. It's one of the most common problems we see, and it's usually a matter of settings on your domain rather than anything you wrote.

Do you build websites?

Yes. We design and build websites, and move existing ones. The difference is that we build them as part of your overall setup, so they're in your name, easy for you to update, and looked after once they launch.

Let's find out where you stand

We start with an evaluation of what you have and who controls it. You'll come away knowing more about your own setup, whether or not we work together.
